Devpala succeeded Dharampala. He came to power around 810 – 820 AD and ruled for around 40 years till about 860 AD. He is widely regarded as the greatest Pala emperor. He conquered parts of present-day Assam and Odisha. The first three great Pala emperors ruled from around 750 AD to around 860 AD, a period of 110 years.
