The Shakas continued to occupy North West India, parts of North India and West and Central India. In the Satavahana dynasty in Deccan arose a King called in history as Gautamiputra Satkarni. He grew an army that defeated Shakas, Indo-Greeks and Pahlavis ( Persians ) and freed territory from Gujarat, and Malwa all the way to present-day Maharashtra, Andhra, Telangana and Karnataka. Another example of how time and again arose in India capable rulers and warriors defeated external invasions.
